Best metal genre

I'm surprised no one likes folk metal.

It's not that no one likes it lol, it's just that people prefer Thrash or Power Metal is all.
I love Folk Metal, Korpiklaani ftw \m/

this is a very very very very very hard decision for me..... since i heard Equilibrium.... i think Folk Metal has become my favorite...im sorry, Power Metal , but Equilibrium is just my favorite band .... i still love Power to death, though

equilibrium are AMAZING

i don't know if this would be a new topic or in this topic but i would like to see a listing with supporting arguments of metal genres(ie synphonic vs orchestral are these real?) also bands that defy genres do they rate there own genre as if they see popularity then they or there aspects will be copyed or burrowed from thus creating genres right? case in point coheed and cambria

i forgot to answer the poll i would say power but and heres the big but does any band want to be classified and wouldnt they make strives and incorperate aspects to make them less definable.

I can't stand listening to a full thrash metal band for more than 2 minutes without being bored out of my mind, I can't stand generic brutal death metal without any element of something else.
Put progressive into any of the central metal subgenres, and you've got something badass.

Anthrax = Thrash = Boring
Nevermore = Thrash + Progressive = HOLY FUCK AMAZING

Cannibal Corpse = Death = Boring
Arsis = Death + Progressive = Awesome

I can even go further...

Children of Bodom = Melodic Death + Power = pretty damn amazing
Wintersun = Melodic Death + Power + Folk + Progressive + Black + Symphonic = Kicks COB ass and nearly most others.

I voted Thrash sorry guys but Im a huge Thrash fan dont get me wrong I love Power Metal to death but Thrash is my all time favorite genre with the exception of my top 4 who are Heavy Metal

Kinda, but I still keep that top 3 as Maiden, Floyd and Nevermore.
