I hate it all Wintersun is both melodic death metal with black metal elements, adding on to that is folk metal, power metal, and symphonic progressive metal. Death Metal has many offshoots, such as. Brutal Death Metal (ex. Cannibal corpse) Classic Death Metal (ex. Death, Morbid Angel) Technical Death Metal (ex. Atheist, Cynic, Arsis, Meshuggah) Progressive Death Metal (ex. Opeth, Between the Buried and Me) Blackened Death Metal (ex. Behemoth) Same with Black Metal. 1st Wave (Bathory, Celtic Frost) Norwegian Black Metal aka 2nd Wave (Burzum, Darkthrone, Mayhem) Symphonic Black Metal (Emperor) Melodic Black Metal (Dimmu Borgir, Chthonic) And a lot more :\ So saying you hate a whole subgenre means you hate the sub-sub genres, when in truth you might find some shit you'd like yourself. Seriously, I thought Death Metal was shit at one point, but I forgot they had offshoots of such.

| I heard that MeloDeath and Melodic Death are two different styles.
I think Melodeath is also called Gothenburg Metal, but I'm really unsure, could anyone of you help me?
I'm fcking confused. | |

I'm fcking confused. Melodeath =/= Mellow Death I use Melodeath to refer to Melodic Death Metal If I am going to refer to old Melodic Death Metal, or the main founders of the style, then I will refer to it as Gothenburg Style or Old School Melodeath (if it's not Swedish or styled in founding Swedish melodic death metal fashion).

| LOL "Screamers". As if there aren't screams (a different kind at least) In Power Metal. Tobias Sammet screams at the beginning of Mysteria, remember? -_- It annoys me when the ignorant speak. I am happy this idiot no longer posts on the forum | |

| EDIT: sry bout the huge picture accidentally copypastad in the wrong thread lol wow that shit was embarrasing........
as for blackened power metal..... lol wtf i dont think i have heard that combination yet gota go look some up
as for screaming in metal, fuck yea sometimes i cant decide what i like more power metal or melodeath, seriously bands like kalmah, wintersun, eternal tears of sorrow, cob, and dark tranquility do it fucking right. il be honest when i first heard it the vocals scared me off but the quality of the music kept me coming back for more and now i wouldnt have it any other way , as the original posters avatar suggests he prolly considers himself metal and doesnt listen to anything outside of dragonforce and nightwish, F that this forums is for metalz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| I do hope, in fact, that you weren't serious when you said that... If you only saw my collection of death and black metal, you'd probably be more than "scared off". Edit: Oh, damn. I thought you were talking 'bout my avatar. XD Anyhow, Nightwish and Dragonforce are still metal, regardless if you like them or not. | |

| Demoniac was the black metal (I say that very loosely) band Herman Li and Sam Totman were in before Dragonforce. They were more a parody black metal band. Listen to "The Eagle Spreads It's Wings". You'll probably laugh very hard. If you listen to them, please don't take their lyrics seriously. Herman and Sam were still fueled on alcohol, and one song had lyrics that said something like "All Hail Hitler!", so they really weren't a very serious band. Their songs aren't really bad though, if you ask me. Old school Dragonforce with black metal vocals. | |

| Demoniac is like, listening to Tenacious D for me. It's enjoyable, funny, and melts your face away in good and bad ways | |

| Oh, I just remembered something. I read that the vocalist for Demoniac was the guy who did the harsh vocals in Inhuman Rampage. Is this true? Also, the existence of harsh vocals in the guy's avatar's third album disproves his whole point. XD Anyway, I'll finally state my opinion on harsh vocals. They are great, dependent on my mood. And they do a mighty fine job of temporarily hurting my premature vocal chords when I want to sing along... I really need to stop doing that. And they also make my dear mother ask me what I'm listening to. | |
