However, Growling is perfect for many genres. Genres that AREN'T power metal. I can attest if you put say, guttural growls into a piece with 3 power chords being repeated, it isn't necessarily going to sound good at all. Now I am asking to see if you have even heard of pieces inside Melodic Death or anything as such, because I can't imagine pieces as aggressive as such being complemented by clean vocals. Again, you have to some extent a point, certain things don't blend into certain things. However I am speaking from my point of view, as I am indeed more of a fan of Melodic Death, Folk/Viking, and Black Metal more than I am a fan of Power Metal. I am used and I LOVE the aggression of the pieces, the demonic shrill and thrill.

Clean vocals for an agressive song.
Rokai, c'mon. Peace Sells...aggressive? O.o
Not really...
Listen to the song not the title.
As if I haven't heard the song 500 times before, Peace Sells is NOT aggressive. All of a sudden you're the only Megadeth listener now?
(btw, I wonder how you 'listen' to the title.)

haha I was going to reply to that post by Rokai saying something along the lines of 'I'm sure metallhead123 is a big Megadeth fan so he will know damn well what the song sounds like' but nevermind you got there and told him first

Wow...if you don't think that's agressive you seriously have something wrong in your mind. I guess only grotesque growls and gargles make something agressive enough.

C'mon, you didn't even pick one of Megadeth's aggressive songs. Peace Sells is overused, and I'm sure everyone on this forum has heard it more than once. Anyway Rokai, you still haven't given a good reason to disrespect growling.

I think I've already said it but okay.
They sound stupid, especially in music. And it doesn't take much skill, it's like giving the bored singer something to do.

If you cut away all growling (and aggresive vocals), then you have reduced Heavy Metal by almost 50%!
If you say you like Heavy Metal, then you like growling vocals to!

No use in arguing with him people. His opinion is his opinion, we should be entitled to respect it. However, I can have my own opinion, and I think his opinion is blasphemy.
Anyways, who are your favorite growlers folks? What are your favorite songs that include the powerful shrill of harsh vocals?

i dont think that there is something better in metal music than songs with growling vocals. the feeling when you hear such songs is incredible. i dont think i can describe it in english but i think most of you understand what i mean. there is pure aggresion, rage and ownage even in the backround music and the lyrics make it an awesome combination!
For me alexi laiho is the best (maybe its because of warman who plays in the band) but i also like other bands like these. Even corey taylor's voice sounds reeeeally good although that some people criticise him badly.

oh come on i dont think growls sound like cows in death. and it actually is a skill as you have to controll your breath in order to "sing" the lyrics. practicing in growls can be a real pain and those who have mastered it like alexi laiho have a unique result. none of the vocalists i know (except the norther singer who immitates it very well) has managed to growl like laiho

Laiho is one of metal's finest growlers, along with Corey Taylor, and Matt Tuck ain't bad either.
And yes, it does take skill to growl and scream, no doubt.
I read somewhere you have to tense the abdominal muscles, breathe in, and let out a controlled, metal growl or scream.
And also, before concert or recording you need to drink milk to smoothen the throat.

No, Heavy Metal and Death Metal are both a genre in metal. They haven't got much relation. Brothers, you might say.
