Is DragonForce your favourite band?

Just wanted to find out how many DF-fans we have on this forum

surely one of my favorite bands but not number one.

This choice is as hard as playing Through The Fire And The Flames on Expert

I am a big DF Fan, also a big Maiden fan, also a big Metallica fan etc etc

I don't really have a No.1 band at the moment, they are just all 'one of my favourite bands'.

So yeah, I'll go for the second one down.

Still, the capability of DragonForce, is far beyond anything I could ever do.

They are my favorite, yes.

I voted "They totally suck!" only for lulz, I really think they are good

I loved them before but now i dont listen much to them anymore.

They're my favourite band. But Iron Maiden and Blind Guardian are awesome too.

I'm the other one who voted "they suck". Actually, my vote would go between "I don't really like them" and "they totally suck". Dragonforce are one of the few Power Metal bands that I couldn't listen to one whole album without getting tired. Of course, they are talented musiciens, they have some good songs, but most of their songs are simply too repetitive, and they try "too much" to do something powerful and catchy. The only album that I haven't listened yet is Ultra Beatdown.


Well, I think Dragonforce give a bad image to Power Metal.

Just listen to the Reasons To Live solo. It sounds like something Led Zep would do. So different, as is the rest of the album.

Everything in Inhuman Rampage and maybe some of Sonic Firestorm was almost identical. Every chorus would usually start with '(So) Far away', and parts of the solos sounded like the whole thing had just been copied and pasted.
And have you heard Prepare For War, and then Fury Of The Storm (off Sonic Firestorm)?

The Prepare For War intro sounded EXACTLY like Fury Of The Storm's, except it just sounded like they had changed it to a mono sound rather than a stereo.

Anyway, DragonForce are different now. They are awesome live, their songs are not similar anymore, and for all I know, if they ever did speed up stuff they do not anymore.

And I completely disagree with the last thing you said about DragonForce giving a bad image to power metal. How many times has a power metal band besides DragonForce been entered into Download? Wacken? Britain's biggest festival and the biggest festival in the world?

I don't know, but it's not more than 5. If you think DragonForce give a bad image to power metal, that is fine, since that is an opinion.

But as I said, DragonForce are getting into all these festivals, that they may obtain fans while they are there, and then those fans could discover power metal, and like it, ALL BECAUSE OF DRAGONFORCE. DragonForce are doing Power Metal a BIG favour. Therefore, respect is due.

Well, DragonForce songs do sound the same if you listen to only the beat and not the actual thing they play. I hate it when people put amazing bands like DragonForce to background music. For shame.

well, my answer used to be ''Yes, DragonForce is defenately number 1!'', but since discovered this channel on youtube I discovered Power Quest, and they are now both my favorites!

But since this is about DragonForce I just voted for ''Yes, DragonForce is defenately number 1!''

Well, UB is a bit slower than than DragonForce's previous albums. Therefore, the beats change. But yes the beat is very similar in DF. It's just alternating between the snare and hi-hat with some double bass in it. That's all it is, and it's within my capability of drum playing.

OMG, you're so right Jack! I also think DF is doing Power Metal a great favour. It's not my favourite band, but for the moment I'm very much in love with Reasons To Live. Before that my favourites were: My Spirit Will Go On, Valley Of The Damned and Cry Of The Brave

I very much respect DF for their founding of the genre "Extreme Power Metal" (if such thing excists?). I think it's very cool that they have taking Power Metal to a new level. Aren't they the "Heaviest" Power Metal band? They are the Heaviest I know

DF was the first Heavy Metal band I heard (about 1,5 years ago). There is one big minus on DF though: Their live-perfomance...
