However, black metal is usually (on purpose) recorded to sound like shit. And 99% of the black metal I've heard has ZERO emphasis on melody. Pretty much only have heard one black metal band i like (Arthemesia) and it's not even considered 'real' black metal This is not counting viking/black metal bands.

Lol, because 99% of black metal bands are too busy trying to be "trve" I don't hate Dimmu because they're creative and at least their black metal's got some decent melodies. So what if they're not "trve", black metal isn't an elite club. Lol.

You speak truth! 'trve metal' of any type is usually inferior to bands who branch out I believe.

Should just change the name to the black metal thread.Ya i sometime hate it when a band records on purpose with poor production but some can pull it off nicely.Just because the older bands sounded like that doesn't mean all black metal has to sound like that forever.I mean the older bands didn't really have a choice in the matter...oh well heres a few bands i've been listening to lately
