Terrible band. Worshiped on this forum as gods of some sort but barely anyone actually knows anything other than Raining Blood. Only really had a couple decent albums at the start of their career but other than that, terrible band.
Kerry King is overrated as hell. Jeff Hanneman isn't much better either. I would rather have my ear filled with Kirk Hammett's crappy Wah solo's than the whammy bar wankery that Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman put out. Sure, they can right a couple decent riffs, but that alone isn't enough to make a band. Angel Of Death seemed like an amazing song until Kerry King wanked his whammy magic all over it, then it sounds like total shit. Same goes for Raining Blood and pretty much any Slayer song after the first 2 albums.
The only time I bang my head to Slayer is when my head is hitting my hand in a *Facepalm* listening to them.
On top of that, Tom Araya is one of the worst Thrash Metal vocalists out there, especially on Slayer's later albums, UGH!
Plus, time after time and song after song, they sound the same, it really is a bore and so I don't think I am really all that excited about the new album.
Megadeth >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Slayer Chris Broderick >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Kerry King Dave Mustaine >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Kerry King Chris Broderick >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jeff Hanneman Dave Mustaine >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jeff Hanneman James LoMenzo >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tom Araya Dave Mustaine >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tom Araya
The only talent in Slayer is Dave Lombardo, but having seen both bands live lately, I would say Shawn Drover is a lot more accurate, and can pull off some decent improv drum solo's whereas Lombardo = Boring.
I actually wonder how many have listened to Slayer's first 2 albums, because Reign in Blood is awful.
Ok, enough of a rant ^^ Slayer is shit in comparison to Megadeth or even Testament, just my opinion. ^^
Call Hangar 18, Tornado of Souls or Holy Wars overrated if you like but lets see Slayer "We like to wank our solos all over great riffs so our songs end up sucking" can pull off a better song
In My Darkest Hour
Newer Megadeth - Gears of War
Old Testament - Practice What You Preach
Newer Testament - More Than Meets The Eye
Notice they can all pull off solos
Please post a video of better Slayer songs.

Oh I know. But there's a select few on here that actually consider that song the pinnacle of Thrash. I'm not going to name people but I am sure you know at least one. ^^

I don't really like that song. Altar of sacrifice is my favourite slayer song. But as far as the 'thrashy speed metal' kind of thing goes..I prefer old Blind Guardian.

In all honesty, it's not even researching more Slayer songs. They all sound the same after a while. Also, they like to spoil decent riffs with horrible solos, I can't stand that their guitarists are named "gods", meanwhile amazing guitarists such as Jeff Loomis, Gus G, Alex Skolnick and Jari Mäenpää go unnoticed.

I actually think Jeff Loomis is about equal to Jari.
But then I am an avid Nevermore fan.

Earlier Slayer is pretty good I hate the lyrics but the musics good newer Slayer sucks. Slayer are overated honestly I think the Big 4 should go like this
Metallica Megadeth Anthrax Overkill or Testament

Yeah I actually saw in the "Get Thrashed" documentary of (big surprise) Thrash Metal that if there was "The Big 6 of Thrash" Overkill and Testament would be next in line.
But I think a few Slayer songs are okay... I've actually gotten used to Araya's voice. Angel of Death is like my fighting song, if I ever got into fights with people and I usually only listen to Slayer when I am *ahem* Pleasing my inner anger lol. I also think Slayer's most appealing song, in my eyes, is Seasons in the Abyss.

They should make the Big 6 Overkill and Testament need more credit. I agree Angel of Death rules.

i like slayer, its nice and gritty when u want it to be seasons of the abyss was one of the better sides of slayer when they embraced their more......melodic side (of course written by jeff hanneman because all kerry does is rape his whammy bar and get all the underserved fame) however slayer does have its uses such as driving by church while blasting disciple

I never found humor in that. I think burning down churches the NBM way puts the message through much more.
Slayer is just shitty music for simple people, IMO. No offense to any listeners, but come on, they're boring as fuck. Producing the same album, diff title all the fucking time. Then they release Christ Illusion and OMFG that's almost as shitty as St.Anger -_-

Ive never found that humorous at all and Disciples lyrics blow. The music wasnt that good either nowhere close to as good as Reign in Blood or Show No Mercy.

I like them, though they are the worst of the Big 4 (including Metallica, their earlier albums were pretty good), I like them. How can anyone not love Raining Blood, Bloodline or Angel of Death?
Anywho, Show No Mercy and South of Heaven aren't that bad, pretty good actually.
About those famous tracks, you'll always have people who worship bands of which they only know 1 song (Metallica - One or something like that ///Dragonforce - Through the Fire and Flames and so on), a famous one. But I think it's just best to ignore them completely because there are just way too many.

Mtlca has better track than One. Like Nothing Else Matters, Sanitarium and Sabbra Cadabra. Tho One is awesome as an idea and as a song too. I actually don't listen to DF at all nowadays... I skip all the tracks except Valley Of The Damned and Strike Of The Ninja lol.

Like I said already, decent riffs messed up by some of the worst solos I've ever heard.
