| Ya'll call it what you want, but I don't think this type of music should be confused with actual power metal.
In my opinion you're not power metal if only 2 or 3 of your songs on a 10 track album are power metal. Guitar solo's don't make the song.
I'm pretty tired of this shit to be honest, there sure aren't many actual power metal fans here when you consider the forum's title. Mostly progressive and heavy metal fans who might like a couple power metal songs it seems.

Technically the "Power" metal part is supposed to make you feel powerful. I usually feel powerful with epic orchestral arrangements with nice guitars and drumming, and great vocal ranges. So that's power metal to me, I guess that fits into Symphonic Power Metal HammerFall doesn't really play fast though, neither does Helloween, I mean depending on what you mean by fast. They both make me feel pretty powered though.

| Hammerfall and Helloween don't exactly play as fast as Dragonforce, but the average tempo is energetic and enjoyable to me, the heavy metal style with heavy crawling drums and guitars is unbearable most of the time in my case. Even mixed with symphonic elements, crawling heavy metal still doesn't do it for me and does not feel powerful.
For me,
Hyper is ...hehe...Dragonforce's fastest stuff and some of the faster black metal; hyper is usually obvious. Fast is...hmm...Gamma Ray's Man On a Mission. Medium is...Sabaton's Primo Victoria Slow is well...the average pace of your typical Iron Maiden worship bands. You get the idea. Crawling is slower than slow and reserved for soft ballads.
I prefer medium and higher for this chart with rare exceptions made for exceptional songs. A lightning solo doesn't fix a crawling song though, sorry.
I do agree though symphonic stuff can be powerful feeling even without speed (such as all the slow segments on Fairyland's Score To A New Beginning, eg: Rise of the Giants, which isn't even metal, hehe).
