I saw the Dropkick Murphys at a small club here in Tallahassee FL called The Moon. Its a small venue only able to admit about 400 fans. They are an American Celtic punk band using an assortment of traditional Irish intruments and English/Irish themes. I saw them with Angel City Outcasts and Everybody Out, both good opening bands. The show was great, it was a good crowd both energetic and emotional. I knew it was an all ages show but was suprised at how many younger fans and woman and 40+ banker looking sorts showed up considering its a 12 year old tavern punk band. I also for the first time in my life got onstage with the band, F-ing awesome. The guys in the band could not have been cooler, played 2 or 3 songs with fans just swarming the stage bumping into them and shit. A great band making great music that I've been a fan of for a long time. To all my friends active on this site do check out some of there stuff.
The songs are "Flannigans Ball", "Johnny I Hardly Knew Ya" and "Captian Kellys Kitchen" in that order. Note: I'm not going to explain whats going on in the last video. You figure it out.

It's unusual but awesome!
This approves as folk metal right?

I do not know, you guys are better suited to make that call than I am. Thanks for checking it out though, I didn't know if you all would approve.

Since this has Irish influence in it it's folk metal. That's my opinion. And man I LOVE folk metal!

Dude this is one of my all time favorite bands. Glad you liked it, look for them on tour. I found out that most of there fans consider them to be Oi, a sub-genre of punk. But a few fans I asked said they could consider some of there songs metal so were good dude.

Well it might be punk. There are some good punk bands, I like some Exploited songs and there was a Hungarian punk band called Tankcsapda but they became shitty alternative now.

Check out their song "Johnny a mocsokban". Well I'm not sure if it's punk but it sounds punk-like.
