Powerquest gig at Strafford Arms [Wakefield] 2nd Dec.
Arrived for doors at 7pm. Usual thing happened, doors opened at 7-30.
Venue was a small pub with a stage in one corner. By the time the first band came on the place was quite full. Local band Hammerex were followed by Leeds based Dreamcatcher. These guys were good although the sound gremlins seemed to affect a lot of their set.
I last saw Powerquest in 2006 and they have now recruited a second guitarist in Bill Hudson [Ex Cellador]. Bassist Steve Scott was in New Zealand, so the bass slot was filled by Jon Hoare [Mercury Rain]
The tour was to promote the new album Master Of Illusion, all of this album was played. The title track stood out for me. PQ's other releases wern't forgotten with songs off their earlier albums. It was amazing that everybody seemed to know every word to every song. Even a small moshpit formed in front of the stage, which threatened the stage monitors on more than one occasion. After the gig it was great to meet up with the guys again. Posed for a pic with the band. Me and Alessio have an agreement that I have my pic taken with him every time we meet.
All in all this was an awesome night
