| Subject: So, I met the guy that runs ProgPower... Tue Jan 12, 2010 12:37 pm | |
| First off, I just need to say that I went to Chattanooga, TN a week or so before Christmas. A friend took me to Mc'kays, a used book/game/movie/cd store. One of the things I was looking for was a copy of the book Fight Club for my friend. So I'm walking around, and this guy comes up to me and says, "Hey man, I love your shirt." (I'm wearing my Amon Amarth shirt.) So I do the whole, "Thanks. It was a great show." thing. And he's like WOW! You got to see them live?! I smile, and start talking about the show. One of the things I mention is that they played in Atlanta. So he says, "Oh yeah? I put on a show there every year." "Really? Which one?" "ProgPower" After that my jaw just drops. "HOLY SHIT! Me and some friends are going to that!" "So it's going to be your first time?" "Yeah. I wanted to go a few years back when Iced Earth played, but something came up at the last minute." "Oh yeah. That was a good year. Jon Schaffers' amp died during the set though." And I'm just staring at him, still thinking hooooolllly shiiiit. He continues, "But it was during the last song, so they got to play most of the show." After that, a voice came over the PA saying we had 5 minutes before they close. So, I have now had the guy that runs Comic-Con, Dragon Con, and ProgPower all comment on my Amon Amarth shirt. Not to mention ALOT of other random people. More than tour shirts from other "more popular" bands. odd.... | |

| man that is epic. Also, enjoy Progpower aswell. Me and some friends are thinking about going to Sonisphere festival here in the UK. I wouldn't really call it a metal festival as such but it was thought up by the guy that created Donnington Park Festival. I'm really going for a couple of reasons, namely Iron Maiden and Anthrax. But Slayer are also going to be there aswell as Rammstein, who my friend is into. You've also got other bands like Placebo, Papa Roach and Bring Me The Horizon but....ah well.
Anyway, back to the point..epic coincidence in that shop!

Im just hoping to see Maiden over there anyway...it would be a disaster not to go to one of their concerts before i die.

| Awesome!
Actually, I have a similar story. I was wearing my Ultra Beatdown shirt at a video store one night, and this guy came up to me. He was with what seemed to be either his girlfriend or wife and what appeared to be a daughter who was about three years old. He complimented my shirt, and I told him it was great show, blah blah. He and his girlfriend/wife said that they should tour with Sonata Arctica again, and maybe Nightwish. This was back when they were touring with Saboton, so I told them that. Then he tried to shows his daughter my shirt. I was thinking at the time, "This is a whole power metal family!" It made me realize how mainstream some power metal bands are getting.

| Awesome man.
I've met the singer from Stormental (for those who don't know them, a great beginning Progressive Metal band from Brasil) when I went to their show but I didn't know who they were. And so before they played, there were some local bands playing and all but me and my friend were standing side by side the guys of Stormental and started to talk a bit about the Belgian scene but for some reason, I didn't recognize him. I though I had seen him somewhere but couldn't really remember where, who or what. But then they left and appeared on stage. I was lolling all the way through. Was great.

| Epic! I would have loved to go to Sonisphere Sweden last year, but it was too expensive with the ferry trip, hotel and such. But who knows? I would definetely not wanna miss Iron Maiden again(missed them when they were here in Denmark touring with Avenged Sevenfold and Lauren Harris). | |
